Brush Country Kennels facility is located on our 1700 acre ranch outside San Antonio, TX. Although we have already built many kennels, cleared and fenced many fields, and put up many exercise runs, we consider our facilities a work in progress. We are constantly looking for new things to build or aquire in order to ensure our dogs health and happiness. After all, a heathy adult means healthy puppies which means every new owner gets the best we have to offer when they purchase their new puppy from Brush Country!

Our dogs enjoy solid built 10 X 10 or 10 X 20 kennels complete with Igloo houses and extra large food & water dishes. We keep their food filled 24/7 because we feel a well-fed dog is a happy dog. As recommended by our vet, Dr. Michael Becker of Becker Animal Hospital, all our kennels are built on concrete slabs in order to protect our dogs from all those nasty diseases that tend to be held in the ground. These kennels are power cleaned daily and disinfected on a regular basis to further ensure our dogs good health. All kennels are roofed to ensure their comfort in rain or shine. As you can see from the pictures, we don't build our kennels in a straight line or perfect square. Instead, we like to build them one at a time as needed so we can place them under the trees for maximum shade effect. This further promotes our dogs comfort and happiness in these hot South Texas summers.

Exercise is crucial to the physical health of our dogs and play time is even more important to their mental health. We feel a dogs personal social skills are every bit as important as the way they physically look. That is why we spend a great deal of time letting our dogs run and play in the beautiful open fields as well as specific, concentrated exercise on the runs. Our dogs are well structured, muscular but still extremely agile and athletic, and very well adjusted. The pit bull is a very proud, intelligent breed and they need extensive interaction with others just like you and me. Some tend to be laid back and quite while others love intense activity and being on the go. But all good pit bulls carry the traits of fierce loyalty, extreme intelligence, and the love of being close to their people as much as possible. We treat our dogs as extended family members and make every attempt to raise healthy, well-adjusted American Pit Bull Terriers.

Beautiful scenes like these are a way of life at our facilities. Our dogs enjoy the peace of wide open spaces, abundent fresh air and sunshine to play in, cool shady spots to rest in, and an unlimited supply of love and attention. There is really no great secret to raising a happy, healthy pit bull. We feel it is simply a combination of hard work, diligent health care, and lots of love and attention.
